Montessori classroom is spacious and also prepared with the materials for the children to work with each and every day. Open shelf is one of the uniqueness in Montessori classroom. We let the children to choose and decide what they want to work with today. It has to be child friendly so then the children are able to take the materials independently. The classroom also encourages the children to do the working cycles : knowing where to get the materials, work on the materials, then placing them back to the shelves. We have less chairs and tables. Children are free to choose either working on the table or on the floor. And also if you notice, Montessori classroom has less decoration. This is to keep the children from any distraction of too much exposure here and there. Children want to work and they need to practice concentrating on the materials. Decorations on the boards are only short information or reminder in general for everyone.
